Recovery & Wellness Programme
Having a mental illness such as schizophrenia may significantly impair the person’s performance in major life activities such as learning, thinking, communicating and sleeping, resulting in great disability. People with psychiatric disabilities need more than just medication and hospitals to help them get better. Achieving confidence through developing life and social skills plays a vital role in enabling persons suffering from mental illness gain personal independence and reintegration into the community.
Psychiatric rehabilitation refers to the education and training given to improve a person with a psychiatric disability to perform the physical, emotional, social and intellectual skills needed to live, learn, work and socialise in the community with the least amount of professional intervention and support necessary.
In the rehabilitation programme, our clients work towards their full potential by learning coping strategies to emerge stronger from setbacks in life in a safe and supportive setting. They rehabilitate through exercise, therapeutic art activities such as pottery and crafts, poetry, cooking and baking, and motivational talks.
Currently we run our rehabilitation services at our four Mental Wellness Centres:
